You did not state how old you are, I'm guessing btw 12-15. Your first menses can indeed only last one day - and can be a light brown in color - this is just sloughing from the uterine wall and very normal.

In about 28 days, you could expect to have another and the days will gradually increase to as much as 7.

Don't worry and talk to your mom when she comes home.

I'm a nurse. Yes it can be any color. You should however continue to wear a pad/tampon because your period can now come without warning. Also ask for some Tylenol or ibuprofen just in case you have cramps. Drink something warm and use a hot water bottle or heating pad. I hope this helps. A pantie liner will also work. Take care.

Periods normally last more than 1 day - usually anywhere from 3-7 days. It is possible that you could have light spotting to begin with when it starts. You should get your period every 28 to 30 days.

Your first period might last for one day... it's nothing to be worried about. It's highly unlikely that it will always be one day long... probably 3-4 days, maybe more. Always carry feminine protection with you, because you never know when it'll show up!!

that is normal. u may not have another period for another couple of months maybe next month but u will be irregular. If u have cramps take aleve it really helps. try pads first then tampons if u want to wear them.
