but if i had to pick i would pick dirk as a all around and melo as a shooter.~

Well, there is no better answer than the game last night. Dirk makes every player around him better, he gives his teammates space to get into the game. That`s why the Mavs have their success. Anthony is a really good player, but if he doesn´t find out that basketball is team sports, he will never get over the status being an individual player. He´s got talent, but Dirk is better in almost every category.

Last night they played each other. The Mavericks won. They won because Dirk not only scored, he defended, he passed, he rebounded, he got his team involved in the scoring. He spotted the hot hand and made sure that guy got the ball. Anthony scored a lot of points but he didn't rebound, he didn't defend and he did not pass the ball. To be good at your game is fine but to be a good basketball player means to play on a team. You have to trust your teammates on defense and on offense. I don't think Carmelo trusts his teammates.

Dirk. How is this a question? Dirk has inside-out game. Melo is smooth, but if you are a GM starting a team - who do you pick first - Dirk, every time. (unless, of course, you can pick Nash or Kobe)

well........ this is a tough one. Dirk is a better 3 point shooter, but doesn't post up enough for a 7 footer. Melo is a great all around shooter and he can fly. Lebron and Melo are the closest thing to micheal jordan right now in my opinion.

Dirk. They are both scorers, but Dirk is a much better weak side defender/rebounder. He also shoots a higher %
