and it doesn't require any batteries. I just need to know what brand it is, or if they're made by different brands, which would you recommend

I've heard that they only stay lit for 5 minutes and that you constantly have to re-shake them. What a pain in the rear end.

The light is not bright.
There is imitation that looks that flash lite and powered by 2 Cr2032 bat tries.it even has a weight in the center of a copper coil that is not connected to anything.
If you would like a better light try the one that you wind up, some even have a outlet to charge a cell phone.

well my mom got one for me and its in my hand there is no name on it but i know she ordered it through a t.v. ad. it actually works but i would recondmend that if you want one to see with get a different type this one gives off a broad short spectrum of light. its good for in the house, but if you want to see outside with it get something else .

i'm not sure of the brand, it may be raovac, but i bought one it was nice problem is i lost it

don't know about the brands...but i know walgreens carries them. i've seen them there....
