I have a few question on graphing. Could someone tell me if I'm right or wrong? if wrong, correct my answer? Thanks.
a) The line through the points (-2,7) and (3,1) are on a graph. What is the slope of any line that is perpendicular to this line?
m=6/5, m= -6/5, m=5/6, m= -5/6. I have -6/5 is this correct? if not, what is?

b)the graph of the equation 4y= -3/2 is graphed and plotted. What is the slope of this line? m=4, m= -3/2, m= 3/2, m= -3/8 I selected 3/2 is this right? if not, what is?

c)plot a point other than (4, -3) on the line with slope m=0 that passes through (4, -3). I plotted a dot directly in the center of (0,0) because I was confused on this, whats the correct coordinates?

d)the table contains ordered pairs whose coordinates satisfy the equation 2x + y =5, plot the pairs. What are the coordinates of each pair?
x column | y column
0 | 5
-2 | 9
2 | 1

1. Principle: If m is the slope of a line, a line perpendicular to it has slope -(1/m). In this case, the slope of the line thru the two points is 6/5.
2. Principle: if y= mx+b, m is the slope.
Here you have no (x), so the is no slope (the line is horizontal)
3. Once more you have a horizontal line. Since it's y coordinate is -3, any coordinate pair (k,-3), where k is a value of x, will do.
4. If you have a pair (xp,yp), just plug them in to the equation to see what happens. Note for your pairs, for every 2 step increase in x, there is a four step drop in y. This is what is meant by a -2 slope( y=5 - 2x.) By the way, all pairs do satisfy the equation.

1. m=(1-7)/(3--2)=-6/5
m(perp)= -1/m = 5/6 (sorry gumtrees)

2. I assume you mean 4y=-3/2x <--- note X!!
divide by 4, y=-3/8x
value in front of x is slope, so m=-3/8

3. m=0 means y=a where a is some number (NO X VARIABLE)
in your x,y pair what is y? 4 of course. Hence any value of x
will be on this line eg. (4,-3) (4,-100000) (4,1000000000000)
etc.

4. I agree - are you kidding?? x column 0, y column 5, means (x,y) or (0,5)!!!

a) Correct

b) None - Correct answer is 0 (Zero)

c) You're joking, right?
