i dont think he should be elected, i think he should just get our troops back over to the united states and end the war and start and let them start a new life in their safe homes in the united states instead of being in iraq and fighting terrorists and being killed by guns, after all they do have families and friends that care about them unlike george bush, if i had to choose for a president i would choose Bill Clington or somebody that cares about their country, i just wonder though...could HILARY CLINGTON be a good president?

I can't comment on 2000, but a lot of people liked him during 2004. My guess is that things had only started getting seriously messy in late 2003 so a lot of people still believed that there was some hope in the Bush Administration strategy.

Also, the Republican Party in general and Karl Rove in particular have played the political game brilliantly. The conservative wings of the Republican party are far better at getting out the vote than any part of the Democratic party is.

Demographics are in their favor, too. The Republican base is a very homogeneous and unified party. The social conservatives and fiscal conservatives and neocons have become incredibly disciplined about taking turns at advancing each others' agendas. The Democratic party looks spastic and fragmented by comparison.

There are a group of people who blame Bush for everything irregardless.
He got elected because he got a majority of the electoral votes in the last two election. The voters preferred him to his opponents.
People who hijack airliners and fly them into our buildings seen to be the ones making this world unsafe in my opinion. Bush at least is trying to see that that does not happen again on his watch.

Self fulfilling prophecy.

Bush makes the world unsafe and then convinces the largely dumb American electorate that only he will protect America from evil forces.

It's basically a protection racket (usually run by the Mafia) except on a much bigger scale.

Same con trick over in Britain with Prime Minister Blair.

IMO (in my opinon) Bush got elected for a second term because we were in times of "war" and it would have seemed weak on our part to other countries if we voluntarily changed leadership during a war.

Actually he lost the first election. He was appointed president by the US court. The next election was after the world trade center and the start of the war on terror. The US was totally fear struck at that time and even a drooling fool in office would have been unbeatable.

we have a lot of poorly educated people in this country, especially in the study of history. We think we have a right to invade another nation that is not a direct threat to us because of many reasons, mostly arrogance. Many of our political leaders are crooks, and leaders in beauacracies like the CIA and FBI are gutless to stand up for what is right, they want no one rocking the boat so they get promotions without having to make tough decisions that they have to stick their neck out for. I worked for the IRS for 28 years and many of it's leaders are gutless and ignor the fraud, waste and abuse that the IRS itself perpetuates.

The lesser of the greater idiots
The lesser of many evils

With choices like Kerry competiting against him it is a wonder he did not win by a landslide.

He doesn't, he steals the elections with lots of money.

The first one with money and influence, Gore got the most votes.

The second one, the owner of the Diabold (not sure how to spell it) VOTING MACHINE COMPANY was quoted as saying he would give the Ohio to Bush.

The votes did not match the exit poles.
