Without it, darlings, we would be unable to wear trousers, vote, work and keep our own money, live without the financial support of a male, be protected by law from domestic violence and rape, go to a doctor's surgery to ask for the Pill without being married, get married and keep our own names, have sex with some sort of equality where even if the man doesn't make us come at least female orgasm is acknowledged to exist, go to university, travel without chaperones, earn equal pay (COUGH), run anything larger than a kitchen, be in government local or national, have any kind of profession....sure, if you want to give that all up.....fine by me, I'm keeping it.

Who said men were being enslaved? I just make this comment in response to women who attempt to distance themselves from feminism. They clearly don't know how much they owe it.

Voting came before working did it fireball? Crikey...shame all the C19th female millworkers, miners and clothmakers didn't know that. And yes, I'd far rather work than be the little woman indoors.

dukeofmud, how do you know anyone here is not doing what you suggest, ie proving her worth? Just how on earth would you know that?

I totally agree. In my opinion there does need to be a limit though. Women should of course have equal rights and be treated equally but I don't think we need to be trying to compete with men in EVERYTHING. After all, we should be proud to be women and there are things that women do better than men and things that men do better than women. Part of being a strong independant woman is knowing your strengths and weaknesses and not trying to actually be THE SAME as men.

Opinions such as those held by MEDSAN1 (See above comments) are what is wrong with feminism. Yes women have had a raw deal in the past and still often do today. However instead of spoting what-ifs about the female potential go out and prove your potential. By harping on about the differences between the sexes any differences are only perpetuated. I admire anyone who works with me and is good at their job regardless of sex, however I have no time for people who spend more time concerntrating on who they are (e.g female or of a minority) rather than what they do and how they do it. Respect is earned by more than words, the early feminists and suffragettes knew this. Some modern feminists seem to have forgotten this.

Feminism's good in that it secured equality and freedom for women. It's bad when it tries to enslave men. Both sexes are important to humanity, without one the other would be unable to reproduce and we'd be extinct.
I'm in favor of women working, voting, going into government if they can do as good a job as men (I'm referring of course to Maggie Thatcher, best Prime Minister of the post-war era).
For me my girl's the most important person in the relationship, I treat her as my equal not a subordinate for although I act and look manly I'm smart enough to know patriachy's obsolete.

THE WORLD IS WRONG, WOMEN ARE THE CREATORS, THE MOTHERS THE NURTURERS -THE ONLY THING WRONG WITH FEMINISM IS THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE RESPECTING WOMEN ANYWAYS WITHOUT A MOVEMENT JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE PEOPLE.

I BELIEVE THATIF MORE WOMEN WERE IN POWER, THEY WOULD UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ACTUAL COST OF A LIFE IS, AS THEY CREATE IT. NO THAT DOESN'T MEAN THAT THE WORLD STILL WOULDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS AS SOME WOMEN WILL BE HATEFUL PEOPLE, BUT MAYBE THE WORLD WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE OF A SENSITIVE PLACE

As an Ideaology it was sound.

but in actualisation it just became little more than a way to get women out of the house and into mostly low paid, dull, repetitive work and to just use them to raise tax revenues in the name of 'feminism'.

Why would anyone have sex with someone who didn't satisfy them, lol. Teach him or kick him to the curb. There is nothing wrong as far as I can see, but it should be humanism. We are all equal as human beings whatever sex we are.

I don't understand why everyone wants an argument tonight! Find something logical to disagree about at least. Something where it is possible that two reasonable people could conceivably have widely differing opinions about.

Don't be so ridiculous you bra-burning, left-wing, militant, insecure, immature, ban-everything, and probably ugly as hell butch trout.

People like you make me sick to my stomach - you are lucky that us men GAVE you the vote, although if i had my way you wouldn't have that. You're obviously too wrapped up in yourself, support CND, Greenpeace (and believe all their lies too), animal rights front etc etc etc. I am right aren't I, I've summed you up to a tee, in a few lines.

Imbecile, nobody owes you, or feminism fu ck all.

It's fine when you are fighting for equality. It becomes discrimination when you use it to belittle men or when you use it to enslave men, or when you use it to show that men aren't necessary to our lives.
