i disagree. why cant you call a self help book a study guide. instructions on how to save and improve a life. a textbook so to speak.

Well yah, but some people need direction and ideas.
You cant tell exactly what they are going to suggest.
I have found a FEW self-help books actually helpful.

Sometimes they can be helpful reminders of life lessons you are already learned.

The title might be misleading, sure. But they help you "do it yourself."
