My husband and I have been TTC for almost a year and I am currently seeing a fertility specialist. This was my first cycle taking femara. It is intended for use with breast cancer patients because it lowers the amounts of estrogen present in the body because most breast tumors can feed or worsen when exposed to estrogen. It is not labeled for infertility use by the FDA but my Dr.'s patients have had a lot of sucess with it. I had to sign a consent form saying that I was ok with it. etc...The reason it works for infertility is because since it lowers the estrogen level in your body, that will trigger your pituitary gland to produce LH and FSH hormones which are the hormones needed by the ovaries to mature and release an egg (sometimes more than 1) aka ovulate! I used Clomid 100mg for 8 months when I was just seeing my Ob-Gyn and I never once got a positive ovulation test (LH surge). The fertility doc. did an ovarian ultrasound on cycle day 10 after taking femera and I had two good size follicles. We'll see pretty soon if it worked for me...!!! Good luck...

Sometimes medications are prescribed for what's called "Off Label" use-that means that they're good for what the manufacturer intended them for, but it's been found that they also work well for other conditions. Femara is meant to be used for breast cancer, but it can also help women who aren't ovulating to ovulate, and give them the opportunity to get pregnant.

If you're trying to get pregnant, make sure you're monitoring your fertlity signs, or using ovulation predictor kits to make sure you're ovulating, and that you're having sex at the right time in your cycle. You can learn more about fertiity signs from the book Taking Charge of your Fertility, or at the website Fertilityfriend.com

I think someone was just talking to talk.

I've never heard of that but I've also never tried to conceive.

and your spelling sucks. it's Pregnant not pregnet.

So since you spelled that wrong did the person maybe say Folic not femara?

Folic acid pills are to be taken while trying to conceive and while pregnant as far as I know.
