I was in retail for 10 years, then I went to an office setting. That was hard because I never had a dresscode until the office. I love to wear ties, because I am following the dress code and doing something no other woman in the office would. I also get the attention from the big wigs because I show ambition and gumption.
Plus, I think they look cool.

The same reason they dress up like Charlie Chaplin. It's supposedly cute.
Ties are a sign of corporate slavery, and restrict blood flow to the brain. Nothing cute about them....
(PS -- Don't like high heel shoes, either. I'm a former facilities manager and ties and high heels are just plain unhealthy and dangerous.)

I believe it's a trend right now. It is a fashion accessory like beads or scarves. It's fun!
