That depends. Are you burned? Or just tan? If you're burned, the redness will turn tan in a week or so. If you don't want to keep your color, you can exfoliate with a lufa or take a shower immediately after being in the sun, which will get rid of the skin cells before your skin is noticeably darker

Yes all tans fade within a few weeks time. The best thing to do about tanned arms but not chest is to 1) put a high powered sunscreen on your arms, 2) wear light colored long sleeves and/or 3) try l;aying out and getting your chest tan or using a self tanner only in that area.

Eventually, yes, but you would have to stay out of the sun rays for awhile. Daily exposure can alter the pigmentation in your skin keeping it tan looking for quite a while.

No. The color change will be noticeable. Next time you go to the beach. Work shirt-less, just put some sunscreen with a low SPF on your chest, and apply a sunscreen with a high SPF ON YOUR ARMS. This way your arms will not get darker, and your chest will start to get darker.

Yes, they do. Several years ago I worked as a groundskeeper one summer. My legs and arms got really dark but faded within about a month of no sun.
