College is a lot different than high school in that in college, your semester grade is based only on a few exams and assignments. Therefore, you really need to put forth the effort to do well with these things, and you can't put off studying until the night before the exam. You have to attend all the lectures, pay close attention in class, take notes, do the reading, and make sure you understand things BEFORE its too late. In some ways college is easier though, because you don't have to turn in daily assignments and you can get away with skipping class every once in awhile.

It is very different. Actually, it's like starting all your school years over again in a new separate sequence----you will be entering it as you entered school, as a First Grader. Flash back to the adjustments you made as a First Grader, and you'll understand how different college is. But, it also (like grades 1-12) nothing much to do with real life, yet.
Another thing that lots of students don't realize is that many courses (especially in the sciences) are designed to "flunk out" a number of students. Pick the wrong set of courses in your Freshman semesters, and it's all over with.
The best thing is to OVER-prepare for everything--assume the courses will be 10 times harder than you expect. Because until you get that set of grades in your first year you really cannot judge how well you are doing----fun, interesting courses may also be easy to flunk out of. Choose your first year courses carefully---most important, take the minimum "hours" you possibly can, until you have confidence in how you will handle college work. But always know that until that course grade is posted, you cannot really know, so be very careful and attentive.
Your college grade point average is crucial---it is the main focus of your work, from the first day as a Freshman---from that first day, you are on your own, and competing with the other students.
Then, be ready, because as an upperclassman, (Junior & Senior year) courses will be quite different, and more demanding.

It depends what college you go to and how prepared you are. if you go to an IV league school its probably gonna be much harder because of their expectations but if you go anywhere else it should be easier than highschool if you've challenged yourself with AP and honors classes and balanced yourself with other extra curriculars such as sports, a job and/or volunteering. College is usually easier for students from highschool because your scedule is alot more flexible and you have more time to rest and get things done.

Much more homework. The rule of thumb is 3 hours of study time for every hour of class. I found it to be less but still a lot. The good thing is the motivation is different. This is for you and your choice instead of something society makes you do. Also the teachers treat you like adults and that makes the learning process so much better.

It is very different...VERY DIFFERENT. I went from a 3.5 gpa in high school to a 2.1 gpa in my first semester in college. I was devastated. But you have to really push yourself in college. Its not the same, you have to get really disciplined. Parties, boys...sorority and fraternity life, activities, juggling classes, going out to with firends, etc. All of these things contribute to your discipline and your success. I know alot of people who went to college with me and the all got kicked out because they let so many things control and take over. Your business is to make school first. You are there for a reason. College is also the best years of your life. It's better than high school. Just remember, it's what you make of it, but you must finish. Alot of ppl don't get to do that.

The big difference for me is that I had to study in College -- while I didn't study at all in High School.

That being said -- I hated HS and loved College. I wouldn't say it is harder -- I would say it is different and better.

It depends on your study habits and reading speed. I hardly studied at all in college and got good grades. I had a room mate that studied a lot and got Cs.
