i have had this fire extinguisher for 20 years and i have never used it.us should i keep it or throw it out

Well most have a gauge on them that depict internal pressure, if it's okay you're good to go. But chances are after a few years most lose pressure, and then it's time to toss it.

Yes, they do. They need to be taken apart every so many years (I think every 5) and some parts need to be replaced. Also, certain brands are better than others. You can bring it to a fire extinguisher company and they check them out. If it is just a regular inspection, the cost should be about $5. Rebuilding costs on a little less than buying new.

take it to any fire department and they will be able to either refill or judge the integrity of the canister. actually, there should be a gage attached to the device that tells you if it needs charging or not.

its probably no good, you should test them once a year to make sure they work...even if the pressure gauge shows it has pressure, after 20 years i doubt its gonna be any good.... after a certain amount of time they need to be recharged

round file it, and purchase a new one.
