I think this ideal is becoming less and less so.

I have not been in a relationship for 3 years and have given up and am okay with that.

I also have a 3 year old and men just seem to get in the way of our stability and that is not fair to my boy.

I have to set an example for him and make sure that I am always there for HIM and no one else.

i totally agree with u. There is too much B. S. when it comes to relationships. Like the song says " i'd rather be alone than be unhappy".
Yes we were born alone and if u dont want someone else then thats your choice. But there is nothing like the care and consideration from someone who really loves u. Maybe u just met the wrong person. (believe me, there are many wrong people)

Having someone else is an inflated, overrated philosophy that too many people adhere to much too quickly with no thought involved. They assume without consideration that is what they should do/pursue..
I love being by myself.
But then again I am a first rate player... ;)

Its not, its more important to have yourself. When you can say you feel good about yourself, then you might find an intimate relationship that will be good. Find out who is inside your skin first
Live every day without expectations and what comes, comes, deal with it then. Let everything go and it will come to you.

it is first more important to take care of yourself and be independent, you can't depend on other people, it financially makes sense to live with a partner and when you get old to have someone to take care of you
