I don't blame you for wanting to keep away from them. Squirrels are evil. I suggest that you walk around them to keep away.
If you want to keep them away from your house, use one of those mole chasing devices that pounds on a rod in the ground. That will keep them away.

You will probably never keep all ground squirrels away from your house. Maybe keeping a cat outside would keep them from getting to close to your house, but I doubt it. The only sure way that I know of to get rid of them is to purchase a live trap for small animals at your local hardware store. You put any kind of seed in the trap and when you catch one just relocate it to a unpopulated rural setting and release. Be prepared to do this several times before you get rid of them. I trapped a total of 19 ground squirrels one summer from my yard. I used shelled corn for bait. Good luck to you and your soon to be ex-neighbors Chip and Dale!!!
