when will i receive the money from tax intercept from ex for child support?

My ex called me and said that he filed his taxes and the place he filed them at told him they were intercepted for the back child support he owes me. I wanted to know how to find out how much the intercept is and how long it will take to get to me? I'm asking in this category cause I thought maybe someone would have been in this situation.

the amount is for the whole refund itself; they take it, do lots (and LOTS) of paperwork, then reissue it to you.

it'll be a month or two. no way to track it/ have to wait til it comes.

just look at it like pennies from heaven :)

one post is half correct, if you owe welfare (not food stamps or medicaid) for cash given to you, the state will take it what is owed them, then give you the rest (if any left over).

I was in this situation, however I did not know b/c he did not tell me, I just received a check. You could call child support to find out the amount but it should take as long as it does to file your own taxes in terms of getting the check. About 2 weeks.

Usually the state holds it for 2-6 months to make sure everything was done right. Then you get it. My daughter has medicaid and I still recieve his taxes because he's supposed to have insurance on her.

You should receive communication directly from the state as to receiving that money. We are in the same situation. Unfortunately- no timeline as to when we will get it.

If you received any assistance (food stamps/Medicaid, etc.) the government will get it, not you.
