I know it's not the brakes or tires since I just had them replaced, I'm thinking it's the CV boot but there's no leak...maybe it's the wheel bearings?...please help, i have a 92 pontiac grand am 4 dr se. It has a 4 cyl engine automatic trans frnt. wheel drive. The noise is more pronounced at 45-50 mph and and is less at high speed then goes back again when slowing down.

Well, bearings will give a distinctive grinding sound, sort of like rocks rolling around in a drum sometimes. A constant velocity joint will usually give you a pronounced vibration, usually more sound at low speeds first.

Simply don't drive it until it is repaired, it is quite dangerous if you let it go.

sounds like a wheel bearing . if the sound changes as you go around a turn it is . may be best to raise wheels and check for play , and see how it feels when you turn it

I had this problem with my car. My mechanic said that the rotor need turning. In you case they may need turning or replaced. Have someone take off the breaks, and you will see whether or not breaks are wearing out the rotor. So just have a mechanic check your rotors.

its a wheel bearing..get it fixed fast..the wheel could come off when yer driving down the road..

it's your wheel bearings, you need to have a mechanic look at that for you, wheel bearings eventually lock up and that can be dangerous.
