In the animal world the male is usually flashy and more beautiful than the female. I wonder if even though most humans THINK the female is the more beautiful of the sexes....... maybe we are wrong......... maybe men are actually more beautiful than women.

Oh, the comparisons. Comparing men to women and vice versa is like comparing apples to oranges. They both have their unique and differenct physical qualities as far as appearance is concerned in different ways. Their bodies are complimentary to one another and are both visually attractive, but in different ways, obviously. That's why I find it interesting how looks, which are subjective, has become universal regarding females. I believe women find men's bodies physically attractive and are drawn as far as sexual attraction, but isn't this appearance, looks, aesthetics, part of the equation? I know women look into personality and other things more than men, but aren't they attractived to the man's build/ form, especially one that has some muscle tone and build? Isn't this appearance and looks. And there are quite a bit of women who like men that have a little chest hair, not alot, but some, and like the way that "looks". Isn't this all pleasing? So what is the exact definition of what is attractive? What is attractive is what a form or shape that the person likes or sees and draws them to it. Therefore, it is subjective, yet many people seem to be brainwashed from society of what is best looking.

So, Bob K, you have said something that I have heard before. I understand your admiration of the female form, since me being a straight man. But, you say the male body is utilitarian, and all hairy and lumpy. Not all guys are hairy and it is more of an individual thing. And what the hell is lumpy? I mean are you talking about an obese man. The only thing that might be lumpy is the genitals, but what is this? I always thought broadshoulders, a man's fit butt, arms, and chest were very appealing and sexually appeaing to women. Is this not physical appearance, looks, thus aesthetics, so how is the female form more attractive. apples to oranges. So what do you think of yourself then? Arent' you a dude. I guess you must assume since you are ugly, that other guys must feel that way also. Well I don't and many girls find my naturally, muscular, and fairly toned physique very attractive, so speak for yourself.

And fireball2, women being chased has nothing to do with women being more attractive. Women are more visual than people think, but guys are more visual and sex oriented than women. That is why men chase women.

To me, women are more beautiful than men|

But that is because I am a man|

You think the way you do because you are a woman|

I remember seeing a man in drag on TV and thinking it was a woman| Then I was told it was a man| I replied: "No wonder she was so ugly|" :)

The thing is that men and women are beautiful in totally different ways, as an expression of the *masculine* and the *feminine* respectively - as beauty is defined as that order that pleases when perceived|

Both Men and Women are beautiful but in the media you see many more beautiful women than you see pictures of beautiful men.

I think the male is more attractive. They don't need make-up, have less bad hair days, put on muscle better, and age better. They smell good when they get dirty and they have longer eyelashes! Boy children tend to be cuter than girl children.

However, from a biological point of view, the other great apes such as chimps and gorillas don't seem to have the male any better looking than the female - just bigger and stronger.

As humans we are all beautiful. The only difference being make up and flashy clothes.

Beauty is socially constructed. It is men who tell themselves what looks good and what doesn't. If at the beginning men says wrinkles are beautiful, a hairy back is glorious and a shaved head is best, it will be "true" because beauty is not definite.

Not in the human world. Both sexes have to be beautiful.

To a man, women will be more beautiful (look at the first few people who answered) but to a woman, it is normal for her to think the male is more beatiful.

Well they do say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. But you do have a point, and you can sort of trace that back to greece when they used to have the guys compete naked in the olympics... but in todays world in america they do emphasize on women in advertisements and such... maybe that is what made women more emphasized
