Seeing what happens to people that do abuse drugs and smoke drives me away from it. We need to show them that. I'm a teenager myself, and my friends and I cringed as we watched videos in health.

I'm a teenager and I don't smoke. I'm not even sure how you get a teenager to stop smoking. I think you need to use the fear tactic. I know a mom who caught her kid smoking and made her pick up every cigarette butt on the side of the highway.
Actually I did a science fair project on quitting and it seems that most teens smoke out of peer pressure or stress. Yes teenagers have stress. It's hard being 16 and saying no.
Whatever happened to alcohol abuse? Oh yeah, by the way kids don't get lung cancer but go on ahead and destroy your liver.

Wish there was a way, my 17 year old daughter used to be against smoking, drinking, pot...all of it and this year has turned around and started doing it all. Don't know what to do...hard to control when they are this age..we don't allow her to drive but all her friends do. Don't give her money anymore either. She knows the dangers..she sings and that is one reason she never did it. All of a sudden things changed. I expected her to try all this at some point though, I think it would be a little unusual not to. I am 47 and was pretty much the perfect kid but I eventually tried it all too. Part of growing up..hopefully they will also wise up and stop.

easy...stop having Truth commercials that say they are against drugs, but in reality are promoting drugs.

I just got done watching a truth commercial about why you shouldn't smoke pot....then at the very end of the commercial they basically show u have to roll a joint with a little 10 frame animation.

The way you get kids to stop smoking is to brainwash them into not wanting to smoke. It's hard to make someone do something that they don't wanna do. Kids will do things that people tell them not to do b ecause they are in taht stubborn stage.

I would say stop telling kids what "NOT" to do and that would fix alot of these problems with these kids.

or if ur a parent and find your kids smoking just beat their **** and tell them to stop smoking.

Have a 400% tax on cigarettes.

The resulting taxes should go directly into teen
education, helping the government pay for
the health problems associated with smoking
and providing aid to other countries who are
trying help their people.

By making the production of cigarettes
generally unprofitable, we'll drive cigarette
companies out of business.

No, they don't have a right to exist.

People have a right to exist. People
have a right to express themselves.
Companies, particularly such destructive
companies, DO NOT.

Its pretty simple, the only answer to your question is you cant. Teenagers are going to do what they want regaurdless of what you tell them. In fact, the more you tell them not to do somthing the better chance they are going to do it just to make you mad. im 16 and im just saying this from what my friends and i all think. If you have a kid who smokes, the best thing to do is tell them you think they are making a mistake, and after awhile they are sure to grow out of it.

Two things that we can do to help. A: Stop smoking ourselves! It is hard to teach a lesson when you are doing the same thing that you are trying to get them to not do. B: Show them what the outcomes of their actions. My wife and I both work at a hospital and both of us see on a daily basis the consequences of smoking, lung cancer, emphazema, etc. etc.

Bring them to an old folks home and let them see all the patients with tubes connected to the throats and lungs.. that should work. My mother died of lung cancer.. it pretty much sucks to lose someone you love so much at the age of 57. It is suck an awful addiction and kids just think it is so cool. Look like a bunch of monkeys with no clue they are killing themselves and others in the meanwhile. You would think they would want to stay healthier at a young age.

Honestly, you can't.
Anybody teenager or adult has to have the desire and will to quit or not start.

You can preach, ground, and do whatever.. nothing will help.
Get over it, if your teenager smokes there is nothing you can do about it.

Remember, there are teens out there trying to get their parents to quit.
