Looking at the answers so far, it appears that all the hot, pumping music with a good beat must have curse words and talk about sex or killing. As a musician, does the band have to play Will Smith or Kelly Clarkson if we don't want trashy subject matter? I miss the 70s when we could bang our heads without the smut.

Of course there are. I can't stand the songs that are full of sex and bad words. But there are some that aren't like that like "If Everyone Cared" By Nickelback. I suppose if you're going from a mass majority many don't like that but "Keep Holding On" by Avril Lavigne is fairly popular now, not one single bad word or reference to anything dirty in that. Really the only songs that are in mass majority like that are rap and hip-hop. (No offence to anyone who likes these) but there are songs teens like without bad words or reference to sex or anything like that.

if you get the versions played on radio the bad words are cut out
they are called "clean" on itunes
