I am working on something. The Standards of Life.
It is the standards we all face in life at one time or another.
I guess it is because I realized that pretty much everybody has "accidentally" walked into the opposite sex bathroom at one time or the other.
So, I am trying to extend that.
I guess there could be extents at which the items are faced, but I am looking for more general terms.

If you have not experienced these, get ready for it.
Getting into a car accident.
Emotional Trauma.
Breaking a limb.
Winning a fight, Drawing a fight, Losing a fight.
Being Rich, Being Middle Class, Being Poor,
Being Smart, Being Mediocre, Being Dumb.
Having your heart broke, breaking somebody elses heart.
Loving something and losing that something.

It is all in the way we deal with basic standards of life that determine who we are.

I have experienced many of these. They weren't fun. That old cliche is true: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." But at the time it sure can feel like it's going to kill you.

I got into a car accident 5 minutes after passing my road test. I was devestated. It wasn't serious. No one was hurt. But I was in tears. The other driver (in a big 18 wheeler) said "honey if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you, you're lucky!" & he was right. It wasn't the worst thing by any stretch. I can laugh about it now all these years later. It was pretty ironic. I was so worried about the road test. I was so nervous. I passed with flying colours. I was on cloud nine. My mom suggested we go to look at cars for fun. I was looking for the dealership. I looked away from the road for 1 second & the car ahead of me stopped suddenly (making a left turn without signalling) I swerved to avoid him & went into a truck.

Bad things happen and they suck. Somehow you deal with them & it helps you to build character. At the time you hate it. You don't want it to be happening. You don't know how you'll make it. But you do...

So, yes I agree with you. How we deal with these obstacles shows us who we are. Some people will let setbacks defeat them. Others will choose to survive & move on. It's up to us. We can't always control what happens to us but we can choose how we react & how we deal with life's slings & arrows...
