First things first. There are 486 million people in the EU, the muslim population is approx. 17million. That accounts for about 4% of the European populus. There are also European countries like Albania that are majority muslim and they are not in any way shape or form extremists. Turkey is an example to the rest of the muslim world. It is secular and forward looking, and most of all peaceful. It has issues with human rights, but the US is not one to throw stones on this matter.

Anti-Americanism is blown out of complete proportion. The US has been an example for the European states in terms of liberty, democracy and freedom of speech. We have of late become disheartened in what is happening in terms of the administration that is in control at the moment.

The European Union is also an organisation of states, its a cross between NAFTA and the UN. And we cannot forget that we are each others largest markets, so we are not going to hate a biggest customer.

Sharia law will never be allowed in Europe, we have a secular government, we have a clear seperation of church and state.

I don't know where you get the idea that people in the EU hate American people.

Many Europeans are critical of the present foreign policy of the US government. It doesn't mean they hate the American people.

In the past, the countries of Europe fought each other and the result was tens of millions dead. These days European people mostly want co-operation and peace, rather than war.

Many Europeans do not believe they should be expected to fight wars on behalf of the US government. Saying so does not make them enemies of America, nor does it mean that they are friends with the extremists.

Because, the Government, TV media, educationalists, and many others, particularly in the Public Sector, are a bunch of lefties, who hate democracy and its twin, Capitalism. They have an anti American bias, because it represents the opposite of all that they believe in, and it is too big and powerful for them to control. Wouldn't they like to though, or, even better, destroy it.

I don't believe, however, except for the indoctrinated ones, that European citizens necessarily dislike American citizens on a personal level. There are some on this site who would give you the opposite impression, however.

The whole thing began before BC. The crusades tried to bring humanity and their way of life to the east then, but whose to say what's right and what's wrong! People lived before without any influence from any other nation, it's when people want take over and say that their way of life is THE way. We have to understand that what happens in other countries are their ways of doing things and not our way, why do we have to butt in?.Moslems will never get control of any countries because of their treatment of women, they are second class citizens and could you just imagine that happening here? I think not!

I think I understand your question.
The Europeans have become emasculated. They have allowed a threat to be unanswered in their midst. They see their younger brother as strong and independent. They will come to a realization they are weak, old and have left themselves vulnerable to their enemy.
They will appease their enemy thinking they will focus their hate on the U.S. and not them. When they get hit hard they will come crying to their stronger, more powerful younger brother. Then they will see the U.S. as allies. It may be too late for them at that time.

Where on earth did you get a notion that 90% of people in Europe hate Americans? I despair of the claptrap that is constantly being written on Yahoo questions. I am in the European Union and I don't hate Americans. And do try to write in English please old boy!◘
