I've worn makeup before for dance and stuff, but not to school. The stuff I have for dance is very dark so it shows up on stage. Anyways, my friends are starting to wear makeup, and I don't know how to tell/ convince my mom I want to wear makeup. It's not like I want to do it just because my friends do though. My eyes look a lot better with a little mascara and eye shadow. My friends at dance tell me I should wear make up to school, but I have no idea how to let my mom know this. Any advice how I can tell and convince my mom to let me wear make up?

Ask your mom if it would be ok to get mascara and some cool lipgloss and see how she feels about it. I think it's best to take baby steps and don't tell her you want to get all the works all at once. I'm sure she will understand and be willing to say yes if you start with little things.

I wasn't allowed to wear make-up until I was in high school. Maybe suggest to your mom that you want to wear makeup and keep to a small amount, like mascara, lip gloss, a little blush as long as you wear it tasteful. Show her a demonstration on how it will look. Some moms find it hard to let go of there little girls, and wearing makeup means your not a little girl anymore.

Well, the best thing to do is to tell you mom that you aren't going out on a limb to get boys or stuff like that. Don't wear make up for boys?!?!?! It also depends how old you are. If you are 11 then just wear a little bit of lip gloss. if you are 12, you should be allowed to wear a bit of eye shadow, but nothing too dramatic. If she says no, stuff it all in your backpack, get to school early, and put it on there!!!

I think u should tell ur mom that u really want to were a LITTLE makeup JUST mascara and eyeshadow! and that u WONT wear alot!! i mean if ur 14 then u should for sure be able to wear makeup but if ur anywhere under that age then i guess i would still let u wear a little BUT if ur 9 and under jus the lil kid makeup!!!

When I started wearing makeup to school in 7th grade I just wore mascara and some blush and concealer. Ask your mom for those things because with them you basically look natural with a little emphasis on your eyes. Then gradually move up to eyeliner and eyeshadow and foundation.

Well when i wanted to start my mom and I were we were walking through Target my mom went to get something form a different isal and i said i will be in the next few isal. So i wondered over to what i wanted most for makeup and then she went to go find me and she saw me looking at the makeup. Then i asked her a question about what she prefers so she has an opinion to what i wear at first. So she helped me and now i wear makeup all the time. Just don't rely on it to much.

When I first started wearing makeup to school, my mom got a little upset and freaked out because I didn't ask her first. Of course, she got used to my new appearance and let me keep doing it, but you definitely should ask first.
While you're getting ready for school one morning, ask your mom if you can try wearing a little eye shadow to school. Chances are, she'll say yes. Over time, your mom will accept the fact that you're growing up.

Good luck- and have fun!

It really depends are your age, A good approach would to let your mom know you would like to try wearing some makeup to school and if she is okay with this ask if you could go to someplace like Merle Norman or Sephora where they can teach you age appropriate make up. It would be a nice Mother and Daughter outing to have makeovers together and go to lunch.

I agree that you should start with a little at a time. It might help if you ask your mom to teach you how to apply the makeup. That way she can be in control of what kind of makeup you wear and how much.

I'm 15 and I just started wearing make-up. Don't feel bad-my mom didn't want me to wear make-up until I was at least 14.
Try asking her if it would be ok to start wearing a light eyeshadow to school. Then work your way up; start with light blush, then eye-liner, etc. Just don't go too heavy on the make up at first.

well tell your mom that you want to try to wear make up and would like to look as natural as possible.
Go for sheer face powders, light lip gloss, pink eyeshadow, brown mascara, and blush only if needed.
But if you are 13 just stick with lip gloss, start wearing make up slowly not to fast. You don't want to catch your mom of guard, you want your introduction to makeup to be as normal as possible.
And another thing, if you are not ready for make up then don't wear it, just because your friends say so it doesn't make it any cooler.
Also take in consideration that if you have great skin you don't want to ruin it. Make up can clog pores and cause zits to come out.
