landlocked cities usually get hotter and colder than sea/lake side cities. large bodies of water affect the climate of a area greatly. For example Chicago, if there is a lake breeze, its not uncommon for one place to be in the 60's and less than a mile down the road for it to be in the upper 80's.

Water changes its temperature much more slowly than does land. So a coastal city would have less difference between their winter and summer average temperatures. A landlocked city would have a greater difference in their average temperatures.

being a coastal city makes it colder cause land heats up faster than water. being a landlocked city is vice versa; hotter.
