A router "shares" a connection. It knows how to split apart the signals and route each to intended recipient.

A hub is dumb. It just repeats everything to every section of the network it's connected to.

A switch is smarter than a hub, but less smart than a router.

A router is a network device that allows you to connect one ro more computers into it. It performs network translations so that your computers all have an "internal" IP address while the router obtains an "external" address.

There are several types including wired and wireless.

A Switch hub is similar in that it also contains management software, but I don't think it does the network translations.
