I ask this same question about the purpose of life once in a meditation. The answer came clear as a bell.

It said I have placed you here to learn the true meaning of Love. What ever it was that was answering then told me something that really set me back. It said that I felt the way I did about certain people because I did not understand the true meaning of love. I protested and said that I did my best to love all of the people who were deserving of love.

It replied "yes that is your misunderstanding. You see love as something that you dole out in tiny little portions here and there to people who you have judged to be worthy of it. This is not love at all, it is only judgment". This stopped me dead in my tracks. I suddenly realized that what it was saying to me was true. This realization brought me to tears. It went
on and told me, "You treat love as though there is some shortage of it. It is not something that you can run out of. The more love that you give, the more love that there is in the world. Its that simple. The only way that there can be a shortage of it is if you hoard it and keep it to yourself."

It went on to explain, that "this is what Jesus was trying to tell you when he asked you to turn the other cheek, to judge not and to love your neighbor. He made no exceptions in these things that he requested of you. Why are you making exceptions, and judging some as worthy of love and others as not? Jesus fully intended for you to apply this love that you are to all, in a universal manner without any judgment of any sort". By this time the tears Were flowing freely. I was crying because for the first time in my life I Understood what the message Jesus left for us in the bible actually meant.

This has become my truth. I can't say what yours is for sure, but I have a feeling that it is probably similar.

YES!!! I do believe happiness is they key to living a good life. If you are not happy then what is the point of living at all?

Scientifically, happiness is caused by something releasing some chemical in the brain which results in a good feeling or something...but I don't need science to tell me that ice cream makes me happy, or that death makes me sad. Happiness is just when you're feeling good, when you are enjoying the people you're around and the things that are happening to you. Bascially, happiness=the good life.

How to achieve happiness? Well just do what makes you happy! Go on a shopping spree, sit at home one Saturday and just watch t.v all day. Whatever makes you happy. However don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good; if something makes you generally happy, don't abandon it in order to find something else that may make you teriffically happy. But if something makes you unhappy, chances are you could gain a lot by trying to change that so it does make you happy. But use common sense, don't give up your entire life if it's not plausable.

Also being an optimist can help with your happiness...if you think positively, positive things will happen to you!

You know what makes you happy, so do those kind of things and with any luck you'll be living a good life in no time.

You were never born with with a purpose. You were simply born. Then , as you move and grow on the world , you think and feel that there should be a purpose for you in life. You look around and find what and how the others are doing about it. They all SEEM to indicate that finding happiness is the purpose of life . You start the same for yourself.

Then , one day, you realise that you ( we) have mixed up the search. We seem to want happiness and what should we do for that? Instead we do a thing and we find great happiness doing it.

Then we realise that the purpose of Life is to do something worthwhile and the byprodust of what we do brings in a great happiness. Example of Jesus, Mother Teresa , and such greats overwhelm us and we feel very small. but examples of average , across the road people doing good things make us do thing.

Do something that you like.

Good question. Many people can relate to your question.
In the cellular level, the cells divide and create new cells and the flowers bloom without our permission, this is the truth in action. The divine energy's love to create is real. When you plug-in into this energy you feel infinite bliss and happiness. It has its own frequency different from what you observe or feel through your senses in everyday life. This is from the consciousness level, this is true happiness. So, when you continually plug-in to the source, you live it in your waking life and your thoughts and actions are guided by that reality, so that you duplicate it. It is intoxicating. After sometime, you become the co-creator of happiness in your life. In the mundane world, happiness has something to do with overcoming obstacles in all aspects of your life.In the deeper level, you have to experience it yourself by, maybe meditation (shutting the senses and touching beyond through the use of a sound-usually, "Hum-so" or "So-hum" repeated with eyes closed over and over again which means, "I am that") or "auditing" (dianetics, LRH) . To start with, you can watch nature, watch a flower bud open, watch a cell divide through the microscope (search through the internet or read books etc.), visit a rainforest and watch, observe, listen in silence and you will have the reality that to co-create happiness with the creator, infinite happiness, is the purpose of life!

Life's purpose is to love, though happiness is a byproduct! Love yourself, love others, love the planet, love this life. Look for the beauty that is there. Focus on the positive. If you live this way, I guarantee you will be happy. Everyone that is unhappy doesn't have love in their life. Most importantly, they don't love themselves. Until you love yourself you can't experience love for anyone else & you will never feel fulfilled. All the money in the world won't fill the void & searching for happiness in anything will be futile. You have to find it within yourself.

Life's purpose is to survive and multiply. Humans keep trying to find a higher calling but the best any life form can do is push its particular strand of DNA a little further down the timeline. Since it all that can really be expected of us, we might as well do something that pleases or amuses us. It might even be helping our fellow man.

To discover and follow the will of God in your life. To practice compassion toward others and yourself. To practice enjoying yourself until you get to be pretty good at it. Do not confuse happiness and pleasure, as they are often at odds.

I think life should just be taken one day at a time. You have to do the best you can, and hope for the best.
