I believe Gwyneth Paltrow should not have won in 1999, and Julia Roberts didn't deserve her win for Erin Brockovich.

Cate Blanchett should have won for her role in Elizabeth.

Oh, where to start. First off, Leonardo DiCaprio deserved to win last year for The Aviator. I loved Jamie Foxx as Ray, but I always think every year...Leo should win.

I agree with you about Cate Blanchett. She is one of those actresses who is just amazing in every role she tackles.

Gwyneth shouldn't have won. Ellen Burstyn deserved it for Requiem for a Dream.

Russell Crowe shouldn't have won in 2000 for Gladiator. He should have won in 2001 for A Beautiful Mind.

And, the greatest Oscar tragedy of all time would go to Jeremy Irons winning in 1990 for Reversal of Fortune. That should have gone to Robert De Niro for Awakenings.

Hallie Berry in Monster's Ball, Denzel Washington in Training Days, Marisa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny, The list goes on and on. I don't think alot of roles rose to the level of Oscar. I thought Tom Hanks never should have won for Philadelphia. That was a supporting role. And many movies have been given best movie only because they were over three hours and had something to do with history, Ghandi, Reds, Chariots of Fire,Out of Africa..., they were over done.

I did think Denzel Washington go robbed with Philadelphia. That was his movie. He also should have won for The Hurricane rather than Training Days.

I could go on but the way I look at it this is all a popularity contest, who campaigns the most for the award. The only thing that confuses me though is why Tom Cruise never wins as much as he tries. I guess nobody likes him in the industry.
