A lot of forums only allow ISP (Internet Service Provider) email because only subscribers to an ISP can have those email accounts. While anybody can just sign up for a non ISP like Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, Hotfemail =). Anyways, they do it to prevent spammers from joining the forum.

ISP are those who actually sell access. DSL / Cable Internet providers are ISPs, as are traditional dial-up like AOL, Earthlink, and local providers.

NON-ISP e-mail are those free domains like Hotmail, GMail, and so on, where anybody can register.

Forum registration often want ISP-based email as those are less likely to be from spammers and bots as they require real $$$, whereas the non-ISP mail accounts can often be mass registered by bots and be tossed with no financial impact.

an isp e-mail provider is an e-mail account that is provided through your isp, (the one you subscribe to). a non-isp E-mail account is any additional e-mail account you may have like through yahoo or aol of which are not your isp.
