I dont know about most guys, but i hate getting gifts from women. Even if i like what they got me, i dont know how to react when they give it to me. I come from a family that never celebrates christmas or birthdays or crap like that so gift giving seems kinda stupid to me. I say if you want somethin just ask, but thats just me. Would a woman be offended if i just said dont buy me anything????

Well there it is. My current bf of 5 years is just like you. I couldn't put the pieces together but he's JUST like that. He came from a similar family life but I just couldn't believe he really didn't want to get gifts.
Thanks. Now I believe him.
But for relationship sake, try to smile and nod. Imagine the effort that went into it, not so much the gift itself.

Well I am a girl and must be the odd one here because I am much happier with not exchanging gifts as well.
Not only do I think its better to be up front about what you want but its a heck of alot easier.
Us girls have no idea what to get guys and guys have no idea what to get girls...why bother with all the stress?
I have been married about 14 years and my husband and I rarely get each other gifts...but we will go shopping together for things we want. Its so much easier this way.

I don't know if she'd be offended but you have to realize that giving a gift is an expression of love. I think you would do better to work on being more comfortable giving and receiving gifts.

You could try to explain to her in a nice way if you feel that strongly about it.But gifts from women usually have more meaning then the gift itself.It's about the thought and the fact that she is trying to do something nice for you.So,just remember that.

You need to explain why you are uncomfortable about gift giving and recieving. COMMUNICATION. Talk to her. If you just tell her you don't want anything she will most likely think you don't like the gifts she gives you and she will be hurt.

Yeah she probably would be unless you explained to her your reasons why you don't like accepting gifts. But still expect to get something, that's just the way we are =]

no, but we always do anyway and GOD help you if you don't do it in return!!!! if you are Jewish, you better watch your crotch, circumcision will not be your only problem...lol
