tree is deeply rooted and its starting to scare me

If you're branching out, your tree is rooted deeply. Just be sure to branch out carefully, or those branches could get all twisted and gnarly looking and eventually weaken or ruin the entire root system.
The slower you branch out, the sturdier and longer lasting that tree will be.
