Also, it is partly my choice to leave but the manager is saying she'd be making me redundant anyway, so I'm worried she might tell the job centre that I quit instead. As far as I'm aware, they always check with the employer first before they approve your claim.

Well, are you quitting or being made redundant?

Do you know what redundancy means? It means that you are not the problem - instead, the company is doing away with your job and does not have another position in the company you are suitable for. It means that you have qualified for redundancy (have worked in your job for at least one year) and are eligible for a tax-free statutory redundancy payment.

I find that many British people use the term "redundancy" as a catch-all for termination in its many forms. One form of termination is called "constructive dismissal", where the employee quits because his or her position is untenable. Note that constructive dismissal claims are treated in the same way as unfair dismissal claims, except that very few claims of constructive dismissal go the employee's way. The employer will have had to be proven to be grossly negligent or harmful, and the employee will have to prove he or she followed all the proper complaints procedures before chucking in the job. The employee will also have to prove that he or she did not leave just to take up another job, but that they were genuinely forced out of a job they would have preferred to stay in (had the contract of employment not been breached by the employer.

It does not sound to me like you have a claim for either redundancy or constructive dismissal, but I'd have to hear more to be able to tell you more.

If you have a letter from the company saying that you are being made redundant then you can claim.
You can only receive JSA or equivalent after the number of weeks that you received money 'in lieu of notice' .
This happened to me a few years ago, I got 4 weeks money in lieu of notice, so couldn't claim JSA for those 4 weeks. You can register for it though, you just won't get any cash for the first few weeks.
Any other money that you get won'tbe counted.

you should go to the dss and make a claim straight away, you might not recieve any money immediately but they will look into your claim and make a decision, also did you recieve any redundancy money if you did and it was over i think 3000 then you probably wont receive any cash till that runs out, also speak to your previous manager and ask if she will back you up by saying that you were going to be made redundant.if they dismiss your claim you can always appeal.

Did you put anything in writing? If you had a private conversation with her and they have nothing in writing from you and they are laying-off other people at the same time you should not have a problem. Talk to her to find out what she is doing. The company does want to limit the unemployment liability, but they also don't want to spend time at hearing they may loose.

If you do file for unemployment and it is reduced or denied because they claim you quit, be sure you have documentation. If you did not put anything in writing, be prepared for her to be at the hearing to testify. Be prepared to argue your case. The hearing will be just like a trial and they will be prepared.

you will not be able to declare earnings help, earnings help is there in basic terms for single mum and dad and those with long term disabilities and so on. whether you are able to declare JSA as a pair in the adventure that your not working, that's going to be one extra £35 each and every week on suitable of your husbands JSA yet you would be searching for artwork. in the adventure that your not searching for artwork, you will not be able to carry on with for JSA.
