Backstory: I have two nephews. One of them who will be 4 in March is baptized and I am one of his godmothers.(A couple of my sisters friends also became his godparents but they haven't been around at all so he really only has me.)

A couple months ago, another friend of my sisters came back into the picture and now she's calling both of my nephews her godsons. I dont think it's right. She wasnt there when either of them were born and the oldest is the only one that is actually baptized.

I've tried telling my sister that I didnt think it was right but she didnt listen and now I dont know what to do. My sisters friend has been talking about getting both boys baptized again and having her be the ONLY godparent.

That's not right. It's like I'm being pushed out of the picture and if it keeps up, I'm tempted to step aside and say my goodbyes but I dont know what to do. My oldest nephew is on a respirator and I cant see myself just leaving him like that.

What should I do??

stand up for yourself and explain how you feel to your sister. tell her in simple words and make her understand your stand on this issue. you are sisters, and friends may come and go. i am sure your sister doesn't want to go through the hassle of more baptisms when there is no need for it. you don't get baptised twice. have a pow wow with all of you involved together and discuss this issue as calm, mature adults. if it comes to a standstill where you or the friend wont back down, tell your sister to choose, with all the info set down on her and remind her that you have been there for them since birth and will still be involved with them no matter what, then see what the friend says to that. stand your ground, girl! this is your family!
