Not much to go on here. Did you fall? twist your ankle?
Basic first aid says, if its broken, the 1st 24 hours are the most important for setting the bone properly. So, if you hurt it bad enough you think it COULD be broken, go now dont wait. You will thank yourself in your old age. If you have broken the skin, such as a cut in addition you should also go see a dr now.

If its just bruised, sprained, strained, or swollen the following can be done to ease your pain.
elevate your leg where possible, it helps with the throbbing but remember to let it down occsionaly for circulation.
An ice pack will reduce the swelling. Make sure that you put ice and water together in a bag and wrap it. Dont put it directly on the skin, you want to keep your skin dry.
A mild pain reliever such as advil or tylenol can help.
you can check with WEBMD for further aid and confirmation of the information i have given, hope it helps

Ice it for the first 48 hours, then apply heat. Apply the appropriate temperature for 15 minutes every hour. Try to keep your ankle elevated.

When you do walk around, wear a supportive shoe, like a running shoe.

Talk some ibuprofen to help with the pain and swelling.

you really shouldnt put it off, if its giving alot of pain, you need to go ahead and get to a doctor. im not sure how you hurt yourself, but there could be any number of things you could have done to it from a fracture to ligament damage. but if you really want to try and hold out. take some anti inflammatories like ibuprofen, and put ice on it for about a half hour every other hour. keep it elevated and try to stay off of it as much as you can.

Put an ice pack on it to prevent swelling, take some pain pills like Tylenol or Advil, lay down and don't put any pressure on your ankle.
