Is there another way or an easier way to get the cheat gnom in Sims 2 for Gamecube?

I know the buttons and I know you have to press them very fast in the correct order but is there another way? Also, if I get it right how do I know I have it? Best details gets best answer!

Cheat Gnome:
------------
Press L, R, Up, A, Z during game play. The Cheat Gnome (Plumb Bob Trophy)
will now appear on the lots and the following codes may now be enabled.

9,999 Simoleons:
----------------
Enable the Cheat Gnome code, then press R, L, Z, Right, Left during game
play. Select the Cheat Gnome, then Interaction/Location: Give Simoleons.

All lots unlocked:
------------------
Enable the Cheat Gnome code, then press X, B, Left, X, Up, X during game
play. Select the Cheat Gnome, then Interaction/Location: Unlock/Unlock All
Locations.

Advance time by 6 hours:
------------------------
Enable the Cheat Gnome code, then press X, B, L, Up, Down during game play.
Select the Cheat Gnome, then Interaction/Location: Advance 6 Hours.

Set Skill level:
----------------
Enable the Cheat Gnome code, then press Y, X, B, Z, Left during game play.
Select the Cheat Gnome, then Interaction/Location:
Change Skill - [name]/Change to [number].

Development team picture:

Controlling a dead Sim:
-----------------------
Kill your Sim. There are a lot of ways to do this, but starting a fire
is the fastest. Once your Sim is dead switch, to direct control (if not
already in it). As a dead Sim you can walk through walls and talk to Sims.
Terrorize, Wail, and Possess are social options dead Sims can do.
Unfortunately you cannot actually possesses Sims out of social mode.
These social options have no effect on other Sims, but are funny.
You can also challenge the Grim Reaper in fiddle challenge.
You have an unlimited number of chances to try this. If you win, your
Sim will become alive again. You can also pay the Grim Reaper 100
Simoleons for a Back To Life Ticket.

Unlocking clothes:
------------------
Get your Sim's relationships to 100 with everyone. Every time you
raise another relationship to 100, you will unlock a new article of
clothing.

im really slow at putting in codes too, but you get 60 seconds to do it, and they arent that long. unfortunatly, it is the only way to get the cheat gnome thingie.

If you get it right, this weird statue thingie appears. its always in front of the house, it sits on the sidewalk like the mailbox. it varys in positon with the different houses, like when you are at sunset acres, it sits right outside to the left if you are looking at the house, to your right if you are leaving the house (does that make sense?)

also, the only way to know if you got the additional cheats like "give sim money" and "max all motives" is to walk up to the gnome, select it, and see the choices.

you can push the buttons in start mode (when you have the options of "buy mode" "build mode" "relationships" etc), or in live mode (when your playing with your sim), but i suggest when in start mode, because if you hit the buttons while in live mode, the character follows the instructions, and i find that can get annoying and distracting
