You should count your lucky stars - most Americans aren't even aware there are any other countries in the world!

And to all those smart Americans who keep trying to test us by asking us where obscure places are - well I wouldn't expect you to know where Brafferton or Hay were, but come on, Glasgow is an extremely major city.

Hey, I'm an American and I know the rest of the world very well, thank you. I can't wait till I sail across the Pacific Ocean to get to Amsterdam, Germany. Then from there, I think I'll check out Stonehedge in France. And by the way, what are you dissing that American for? You're from UK and not even you know that Glasgow is in South London? Jeez!

Haha. That's funny. I am American and all I really know are the main countries. Just countries, I don't really know the cities or states or territories or whatever you guys call them. I do know where the UK is and other main countries. The UK, France, Italy, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, South Africa, and other countries that are pretty well knows. I'm really not familiar with places like Greenland and some of the small countries in the middle east (except the ones we have soldiers in)

Americans seem to think everyone in Britain lives in or near London and that we all know the Queen and Tony Blair personally.

It's pathetic but amusing.

Americans, in my experience, are very ignorant about the rest of the world. I've been asked if there is a McDonalds in the UK, whether I'd met the Queen etc. These were serious questions.

Do you remember Mrs Doubtfire with her Scottish accent, and she was asked what part of England did she come from?

*Because America is the only country in the world, why should they have to know about others.*

I remember someone telling me that he thought Canada was an ocean, when I told him I was Canadian he replied with "I bet you swim good!"

Americans are terribly egocentric.

Just another uncultured loser making us look bad. You wouldn't believe how ignorant some people here can be.

But not everyone! ;)

Not All Americans are like that. you probably just see one American listen to what they say and think that's what all Americans are like. you should see all Americans before judging one and basing all others on them.
