The three Soviet Fronts had altogether 2.5 million men (including 78,556 soldiers of the 1st Polish Army), 6,250 tanks, 7,500 aircraft, 41,600 artillery pieces and mortars, 3,255 truck-mounted Katyusha rocket launchers (nicknamed 'Stalin's Pipe Organs'), and 95,383 motor vehicles, many manufactured in the USA.

April 16, the offensive began with a massive bombardment by thousands of artillery pieces and Katyusha rockets in a barrage which was sustained for several days.

We like to think that we are better than that, not willing to destroy a nation's people. However, the fact is, the first world is ill-equipped to fight any serious war. It would rattle the world's economy, so most wealthy nations are very interested in avoiding war. If such a war is unavoidable, the preference is for there to be as little collateral damage as possible, and for the wealthier nation to spend ridiculous amounts getting very little done.

Wars are only better when they don't exist. When a war is necessary, it is best if it is small and quickly resolved. That doesn't work very well, so we're stuck spending excessive amounts of money to get very little done, because to do any more would be so inhuman, even the politicians couldn't stomach it. Only because it would get them voted out of office, of course.

Wow million katushas.... On Berlin..
Heh Katushas were used for specific operations, not as WMD. 1 million - man, they started them not long before the war ended. Get your facts straight.

Another example liberal playing with history.

Is that what you want? A big war?

The US has demonstrated twice now that we can win decisively in a matter of weeks with small forces and limited civilian casualties.

We don't need a big war to win.
