Core 2 Duo or pentium4? whats the difference?

the difference is Duo core is like having two processors in one, while P4 is a solo processor, Duo core processing is slowly taking over the market, and is great for multitasking, but many programs still don't take advantage of it yet, it really depends on what r u going to be using your computer for, sometimes a higher solo core is best for the job and cheaper too

If you are building a PC i would have to recommend core duo 2 since its new and might not be fully supported by eveything yet it will be sooner or later

Core 2 Duo is fastest. Even a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo would be faster than the Pentium 4. In order of technology, Pentium 4, Dual Core, Core Duo, with Core 2 Duo being the latest.

In some programs, the core 2 is much faster, in games, there's not much difference as the benchmarks prove. Most games require the video card to be powerful, not the cpu. the cpu just has to be fast enough to keep up with it.

A p4 will have to multi task, and the game will suffer!
