It is generally accepted that the first of the "For Dummies" series of books appeared in 1991, "DOS for Dummies" HOWEVER, there was a very little known book issued in 1976 titled "Auto Repair for Dummies"! It was not part of the now world-famous "For Dummies" series, but I bet the author wishes they had continued with the idea. More especially so every time they see one of the multitude of "For Dummies" books now on the shelves.
