Ok i've always wanted to get a ranch, but i know nothing about it. the op has came up for me to own my own ranch and i want to jump on it so bad. i know it's hard work and i'm willing to do it. i want horses, cattle, chicken.], grow my own hay, and maybe so crops. i'm also am doing this in Texas. so if anyone can help or give me a damn clue or books i can read that would be great. i really don't have time to spend on a ranch to learn so please help>

If you're independently wealthy and bored go for it...

if you're not rich...you've got a lot to learn...

Ranching is hard work, the animals that will provide your income are the cattle, and if you don't know cattle you can lose your shirt......it's not that easy

yu can't make a living on horses or chickens or hay........unless you've once again been given a huge ranch outright.

In my humble opinion...............if you feel like you HAVE to take this option....find a neighbor willing to help you out and learn the ropes..otherwise you're doomed

good luck. I dont know anything about it either, but it doesn't look easy. If I were you, I would start out with just a couple horses and cattle then grow to make it bigger and bigger until you have a ranch... voila.
