I'm not 100% sure on what you are trying to ask.

There is no way to actually "upgrade" a hard drive. You can get a new one to replace the old one in which case I would recommend buying a SATA.

If you bought your computer from a specific manufacturer, then
this means you will need to buy a new copy of the operating system (Windows, Linux etc.) and install it on your new drive.

However, if what you mean is you simply want more space, but wish to keep your current HD to run from, that's a bit more tricky.

If you are an amateur with computers, I highly recommend taking it to a trusted computer engineer/repair facility and having them do the dirty work.

First: open up your computer and determine what type of hard drive is already in it.

You can create a RAID configuration to run multiple HD's from your computer.

Another option is simply creating a mirror of your existing drive and copying it on to a new one.

Anyway, back to the question at hand. I would advise you find a SATA 7200 rpm drive of at least 100GB. If you plan on having a large number of games or movie files, then remember more is better.

Hope I helped

You will need to open the computer and see which type of connector you have inside the machine. Then purchase the drive for that connector. (You can also get the information by checking the web site for the system board manufacturer).

i've got faith guessing from the size of the unique HD that it i s a EIDE 2.5" power. I observed on Amazon a Western digital 250 GB 5400rpm ATA100 8MB 2.5-Inch computing device no longer easycontinual WD2500BEVE (Scorpio Blue) for 80 funds. You get above 250 gig the fee starts to circulate up dramatically to the factor the place you're able to evaluate a clean laptop computing device.

Open your cpu and change your hard drive the same type as installed....the greater hd you install the slower your pc runs. i.e you have to replace with a faster processor if you need trouble-free performance.. In my opinion, buy a new pc...it`ld be cheaper..

it just depends on what kind of hard drive you want.
im not an expert on this stuff, but you can ask somebody from the store if you are gonna buy it from a retail store.
