DO YOU THINK LAKISHA'S RENDITION SHOULD HAVE BEEN COMPARED TO JENNIFER HUDSON'S BY RANDY HE SAID "WATCH OUT JENNIFER HUDSON" I FELT NO COMPARISON?

I think Randy was drinking out of the same cup Paula was when he made that comment. She wasn't close. Lakisha's version could not touch Jennifers. Her version was just ok, and that is it. I am suprised she was bold enough to perform it during this Oscar time. To make a long story short, the answer is no. :)

I think that Lakisha did a good job...BUT Jennifer Hudson has that on LOCK. Let's be real; you cannot properly convey all of the emotions of the song in the 1.5 minutes that they give you on American Idol. On the show, they only highlighted the BIG parts of the song to get an effect, and I'm not sure that you can really do justice to the song that way.
Some people are saying that Lakisha's version is better simply because she performed it live and Jennifer Hudson recorded hers in a studio...I disagree. I read that when Jen H. did the song, people were trying to tell her how to do it, and after 4 takes, Bill Condon (the director of Dreamgirls) decided that she should do it her OWN way and she nailed it in 1 shot. AND Jennifer Hudson has performed the song live at Clive Davis Grammy Party (see YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PO1Qcl4zkEg ) and she got a standing ovation for it.
To me, Lakisha's version of the song suffered a bit, because she has a much more limited range that Hudson and Holliday.
I think she deserves praise for shutting down her competition, but a comparison to Jennifer Hudson is just not favorable for her right now.

I saw the performance and I'm not saying she didn't sound good but it shouldn't be compared to Jennifer Hudson's because there were some simalarities but my girl Jennifer sang that song! She song it great and she started off the Idol season right but Jennifer did her thing. I do think that Lakisha Jones and Melinda Doolittle will be the final two and Lakisha Jones will win.

I didn't either.

They both sing the song very well.
