I have sat next to her at work for 2 years now she is always bringing me gifts and foods from her culture. Recently she had a birthday, I don't know what to get her. She is like my asian mommy! I was thinking something Jade?

that sound like my mom! my mom really like tamales, if you know how to make them, but if you want to get her something a Chinese person would, then go for treats. My mom likes getting fruit baskets and sweets like cheesecake or not too sweet chocolate. She also likes flowers alot. If she's religious, then you can get her something with a verse on it; my mom gets those from her church friends and she likes to decorate the house with them.

Well, different people like different gifts. I don't know what she likes, but generally speaking, if you give sth she needs or wants, that would be great. Also, if you believe sth represents your friendship, that can also be a good gift. If you visit a Chinatown and buy a Chinese artcraft, as you just said, a jade statue (palm size) or a jade bracelet, would be pretty good. I once visited the Chinatown in Houston. In a big Chinatown in a big US city, you can find a lot of interesting things from the oriental culture.

Jade is good. If you can find out what her lunar year birth is, ( for example it is now year of the boar) a small charm of her animal. You could also get her something red. Red is for good luck and prosperity.
