A normal pregnancy term now is often defined as anywhere from 37-42 weeks duration. You may be feeling Braxton-Hicks contractions which do not signal labour but these do not last long. Consult with your physician or midwife if these pains continue for more than an hour or two or if they increase in frequency and/or duration or are accompanies by your bag of waters breaking or presence of a bloody show.

What kind of pains. If you have regular contractions then you are going into labor. When the contractions get close there will be no mistaking you are in labor. The pains feel like period cramps and you could have back pain and maybe pain in your abdomen. Goodluck.
