Why does my computer alarm go off during startup?

I took the modem out now it won't post and the alarm beeps 3 times, stops then continuous beeping.

sounds like a memory problem.

This is a BIOS code, the motherboard's manual might list those, also there are places online that have BIOS code charts (try googling for it).
