How do you use Custom Hair on Sims2?

I have pets and regular sims, do I need another of the games? And how do you get elevators, cars, and garages?

For the PC version of The Sims 2, custom hair (and other Custom Content) works as long as it is placed in the "Downloads" folder of the game. Unless the website you got the downloaded content from says otherwise, Custom Content does not require any specific expansion pack--just The Sims 2 should suffice. Cars and garages are a part of the Nightlife expansion pack. I believe elevators are included in the Open for Business expansion (though it could also be Nightlife).

Ok, for custom hair you need to create a download folder in 'mydocument/eagames/sims2'. Then you can go to sites like mod the sims 2 or the sims2 resource and download custom hair, clothes and other stuff.
You will need to get the other expansion packs to get the stuff you're looking for.
