Hi, I live in Italy....here are some comments I've heard about Italians from Americans and other foreigners regarding Italians.

1) they are either in the mafia or have family in the mafia
2) they only eat pasta and pizza
3) the men are Latin-lovers and would do anything to go to bed with a foreign girl
4) ALL Italian men and women are drop-dead gorgeous
5) they ALL have dark hair, dark eyes, and olive-colored skin
6) etc.

I've been living in Italy for 8 years now, and it always makes me laugh how stupid a lot of people can be.

everyone thinks they are experts in making pizza and pasta and have thick accents and probably family in some mafia back in the day. The fathers are "I'll kick your butt" type of dad's to their little girls bf. Basically over protective to an extreme. That's the usual idea some people get on Italians.

well commercials with "thats a spicy meatball and stuff" and always being expected to make spagetti, not as bad though, compared to the discrimination faced by other ethnicities.

The only thing I can think of is their steretype of being Mafia gangsters. I think that one's pretty much gone now, though.
