I am 23 and was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago and was on the birth control pill until last May when I lost my insurance. My period was normal on the pill but I have not had one since June. Starting 3 days ago and still continuing, I noticed some spotting, brown not red, and was just wondering what this might be? Also, is there anything I can do to regulate my period without the pill? Thanks for all the help.

Taking Glucophage (which treats Diabetes and Insulin Resistance-which 50% of the PCOS population does have) can regulate periods because it's trying to treat the insulin resistance but you need to have a dr prescribe it to you just like with the pill.

Since you don't have insurance I would recommend checking out Planned Parenthood or the city's health dept to see if they offer a free clinic, or a Medical School if you have one close by. These are some options for going back on the pill (in particular Planned Parenthood) if you are interested in going back on the pill. The other ones are also for if you want to try the Glucophage.
