This is very easy to answer, Daniel dear....for the simple reason that she is 12. When I was 12, I was in love with Marshal Matt Dillon, loved football and baseball and pretended to be playing guitar while I lip sync'd to the Everly Brothers. I might add that 46 years later, I STILL love Matt Dillon and now I play guitar, sing the Everly Brothers songs and write my own. In regards to football and baseball.....well...I ain't 12 years old anymore!

Because she's 12.

What do you mean by "weird"? Is she being more secretive? Not wanting to hang out with the family as much? More conscious of her appearance? These are all normal 12-year-old girl things.

If it's weird like, she's dressing up as a fairy and running through the streets of your neighborhood...well...that's another matter.

Being a 12 year old girl is hard that is why. Think about all the changes she is going through. Not to mention how mean girls are to each other at that age.

Girls start their periods from 10 to 14... She may be on hers and is not interested in talking to you about it.. Duh! Your a man! AND her father. Is your wife talking to her about sex and the development of a girl to a woman? Also, if she is very cute looking - you may be having a problem with someone dallying with your daughter. Be VERY careful how you talk to her. It may not be what you think. People might get on my case about this, BUT if you can try to sneak a peek in her diary. Go through her emails. Check the messages on her cell phone. Privacy breeds sexual irresponsibility/drugs/mental problems. However, don't over-react to what you find - worse thing is to confront her with what you discovered when you were sneaking around in her private stuff - then she will lose trust in you. Also, if it's sexual in nature - it will be VERY embarrassing and may cause emotional scarring. Remember when your mom caught you with a girlie magazine in your room? Enough said. Teenage years are extremely difficult and confusing. In order to solve the problem, try to set a good example. OR Let us know what you found - we're full of great suggestions... *wait I need to make some popcorn*

HORMONES - Those pesky things that turn a sweet little girl into a teenager. Give it about 6 to 8 years and she will be settling down again. Raised 3 daughters and have been there and done that. Have fun!

Well, she/he could be having trouble with school like friends and stuff when I was 12 I wasnt weird but I look at the people I thought were weird and they didnt have friends. Or they were just really struggleing with school work. You should try talking to her/him. Does she/he have friends come over from school? Try to talk about it to her/him. But if thats not the case and she/he is just weird just be glad she/he is her own individual person. She/he isnt following the crowd which you will be really glad about when she/he is in high school!

um idk but being a parent i think its disturbing and downright rude calling your own child weird. and especially asking other people on the internet. are u serious? she probably looks up to you as a father and maybe even her hero in life, not if she sees this question. oh and does your wife know your a jerk who thinks your daughter is weird?! shes only 12 my god give her a break. whats your problem? and by the way how are other people supposed to tell you why your daughters so weird when they dont even know her??

Because she is a "tween" and she is just now starting to find her identity and place in this world.

She now has a long journey ahead of her to figure out her sexuality (whether she is gay or straight).

She will be in search of a mate by the age of 13.

She will try to fit in at any cost. She'll want friends. She'll want to hang out and she'll want to have sleep overs.

She will be starting her period and her body will be growing(boobs and butt, etc) and her hormones will be raging.

Hormones can make you horny and or moody. (at any time of the month).

Your daughter is very young. Remember that you still have LOTS more years to go, Daddy!

Get used to being a father, and TALK to your daughter as much as possible about boys, periods, hormones, sex, clothes, tampons, maxi_pads, bras, school, dating, safety, precautions, movies, music,..etc..etc..etc.

Talk (don't lecture or yell) to her and support her as best possible, Dad! AND, LISTEN TO HER!!

Take Care
