I've been trying to quit smoking for forever. And now I have the strongest urge to go and buy a pack..."my last one". The last pack was supposedly my "last one" though...and the one before that!

I need more motivation...or something!!!!

Negative motivation rarely works- you can tell someone they're dying and it probably won't keep them from smoking for long- not if the nicotine isn't out of their system.

You didn't specify whether or not the nicotine is out of your own system. If it isn't, I recommend the Patch. It did the trick for me. If it's smoking you miss, herbal cigarettes without nicotine will help. I used both and I kicked the habit at age 41 after smoking 2 packs a day for 25 years.

As for the rest of you, I recommend you keep your abuse to yourselves. Kicking this habit is not easy for anyone, and whether or not they are smart or stupid, good or evil, weak or strong has nothing to do with it- no matter what the TV commericals tell you. So get off her back.

Okay here is your motivation. Life or lung cancer. My father just had to have surgery to remove a portion of his lung. Let's see what else after working in a nursing home and see people with COPD, emphysema, needing breathing treatments, dying before their time, leaving what children you may have in the future without a mother at a young age, ummm...the need to carry around an oxygen tank with you and last but not least running the chance of throat cancer, oh! and don't forget that lovely trachea too. Live life as long as you can I am sure you are a good person don't deprive your family and the world.

For you to stick it out, the motivation has to come from within.

Everytime you have a desire to go buy a pack, bring out a visual reminder of why you decided to stop smoking in the first place.

no one can do this except yourself and if the motivation is something that you are waiting to come from someone outside yourself then youa re wrong, it all have to come from you and you alon, i really sorry that i can't say anything or help you in quitting this bad habit but if you do not believe all the things that you have read in scientific studies and proofs re smoking how it kill you and how unhealthy it is then outside motivation will never do you any good YOU GOT TO STOP NOW OR ELSE YOU DIE!!!!SOONER THAN LATER!!

No more cigarettes for ya. Quit now. The last was the last. That's it. Don't give the pigs in the tobacco industry your money. Imagine them smiling when they see you going to buy cigarettes and you'll quit. Those freaks!!!

think about this.... your loved ones watching you die from the effects of smoking... it really hurts... COPD is such a horrible way to die...you cant breathe... your lungs fill and you drown... its so heartbreaking.. yes I know first hand... I watched my father.... no one should do that to another human being.... and then remember if God had meant for us to smoke he would of put our noses on upside down, like smokestacks..... and finally think of the money you will save... the years you will add, the health you will enjoy...and the smell you wont have...eeeewwwww ♥

You do need motivation. It is your very life and wellbeing you are playing with.
Ask your doctor to arrange for you to visit a hospital treating lung cancer victims. Now there is a wake up call for you.

Think of the wealth that tobacco company executives and shareholders are generating for themselves off of your eventual poor health and misery. Then think about how happy the health care executives and shareholders are going to be with the increased wealth provided to them off of your poor health and misery.

Try a substitute activity. I have a friend who gave up by doing situps until the craving passed.
