I just bought a tracfone today. To get it activated was a pain in the a$$. but once I got through that I am satisfied. I live in a rural area but we do have a tower not far from the house. One thing about tracfone, they use all towers. not like cingular or verizon. They have their own towers.

It really has nothing to do with the phone as it does the proximity of the tower from where you are making calls. Try your friends phones and pick the best phone. Remember no provider will work every where you go, you simply have to pick the best.
