hold down Fn(between ctrl and alt on the bottom left of your keyboard) and press F7 untill it gets bright enough, if that doesnt work try the other F#'s but most are F7

Each laptop has functions keys to control dim on screen. Look for a key on the keyboard labeled Fn (usually a blue color). Then look for the lighting control. The key will look like the sun with either and up arrow for increase and a down arrow for decrease. The keys will be blue (mine is part of F7 and F8).
Many times your computer will automatically change brightness after plugging in, but not always.

Let me explain that the settings for brightness will be saved by Windows whatever have been configured the last time. So if the brightness is made to minimum when AC power is connected then it reflects the same settings next time when you plug the adapter.

So I suggest you to increase the brightness ( at plug-in position ) and then disconnect the Adapter. Now plug the adapter to test the results.

You might have a short in your plug. You have to go to the place you bought your Laptop from & get the plug replaced-they shouldn't charge you. I had that same problem with my cell phone-& it wouldn't charge.

if you have already tapped into your power settings and it still isn't changing, then hopefully you have a warranty, and if the warranty is expired then you are S.O.L. and are going to have to live with it until you are able to buy something new for that. take care dear.
